Тhe meeting of CANDLE Synchrotron Research Institute Board of Trustees took place on the 18th of November 2015. The Board evaluated the Institute activity and the prospects of its development.
Year 2015 is emphasized by the intensive experimental programs on the AREAL and DELTA facilities conducted by the research groups from Yerevan State University, National Polytechnic University of Armenia, A. Alikhanyan National Laboratory (Yerevan Physics University), Institute of Molecular Biology of NAS RA and Institute for Physical Research of NAS RA. The main fields of the experimental research comprise molecular physics, genetics, molecular biology, microelectronics, semiconductor physics and solid state physics, development of new materials and accelerator technologies.
This year the institute has launched the AREAL next stage realization – energy upgrade to 50 MeV with further electron beam delivery to ALPHA (Amplified Light Pulse for High-end Applications) station designated for THz Free Electron Laser facility in Armenia. For this purpose, on the 5th of October 2015, on the Armenian-German Science Day, an agreement on exchange of a THz Undulator was signed between German accelerator center DESY and CANDLE SRI.
The Board of Trustees approved the Institute 2015 activities and its development program for 2016-2017. During the meeting, a special emphasis was given to the institute strong international cooperation for successful development of the AREAL facility and experimental programs. For support and promotion of the Institute activity the Council of CANDLE Friends is established. The Council chairman is elected Mrs. Flora Nakhshkaryan, member of CANDLE Board of Trustees.
