Center for the Advancement of Natural Discoveries using Light Emission

On 24^th and 25^th November, due to the continuing restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility hosted the 29^th European Synchrotron Light Source Workshop (ESLS) online. The workshop program covered all relevant aspects of the design, construction, operation and improvement of synchrotron light sources, focusing on storage ring-based sources and status reports of each facility.

During the workshop a report on “CANDLE Project Status” was given by CANDLE SRI Director Bagrat Grigoryan, which was devoted to the memory of Vasili Tsakanov (previous CANDLE Director) who passed away very unexpectedly in the beginning of 2021. B. Grigoryan outlined the history of high brightness CANDLE synchrotron light source project, spoke about the ongoing scientific activities at AREAL facility, already established international user community and future outlooks in the field.
