December 14, 2020
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Professor Hrant Yeritsyan (27.03.1937 – 14.12.2020), an outstanding scientist in the field of experimental solid state radiation physics and the founder of the laboratory at Yerevan Physics Institute (1973). Under his leadership, important studies have been carried out on the properties of semiconductors, laser crystals, semiconductor-insulator compounds, high-temperature superconductors, as well as the electro-physical and optical properties of Armenian natural zeolites and basalts. He was a member of the Armenian and Russian Physical Societies, International Societies of Crystals and Zeolites. More than 15 dissertations in the field of solid state physics have been defended under his direct supervision. He was the co-author of more than 230 articles published in international journals and conferences.
In recent years, a number of promising experimental studies of ultra-short electron beam radiation effects on semiconductor properties have been carried out at AREAL accelerator under the leadership of Hrant Yeritsyan. The results of these studies have been published in a number of international peer-reviewed journals (Journal of Electronic Materials, Radiation Physics and Chemistry, International Journal of Modern Physics).
Until his last days, Hrant Yeritsyan continued his active scientific activity, initiating a review article on the study of advanced materials in accelerators under space conditions, which was accepted for publication in the journal Acta Astronautica.
We will forever cherish the bright memory of an outstanding scientist Professor Hrant Yeritsyan in our hearts.
