CANDLE team is pleased to announce that an Open Day “Illumination of the Unknown”, devoted to the memory of the founder and first president of CANDLE, a great philanthropist Mr. Jirair Hovnanian (June 9, 1927 – August 14, 2007), will annually be held in the first decade of June. This year the event will be organized on 07 June, within the UNESCO global initiative International Day of Light 2019, in the framework of which CANDLE is accepted as an official national node.
“The International Day of Light provides an annual focal point for the continued appreciation of light and the role it plays in science, culture and art, education, and sustainable development, and in fields as diverse as medicine, communications, and energy. The broad theme of light will allow many different sectors of society worldwide to participate in activities that demonstrate how science, technology, art and culture can help achieve the goals of UNESCO – education, equality, and peace.”
The international day of light “Illumination of the Unknown”, organized by CANDLE Institute, will be devoted to the accelerator-based light sources and their applications in advanced studies of nanoworld mysteries. A number of dedicated public presentations on basics of synchrotron light facilities and Free Electron Lasers and their applications in life, materials and environmental sciences will be organized. The institute laboratories and experimental facilities will be open for a large audience of pupils, students, researchers and general public.
More information will follow.
