On 25-26 January, the delegation of National Research Council of Italy, headed by its President, Prof. Massimo Inguscio had an official visit to Armenia to discuss future cooperation possibilities in scientific projects.
On the 25th of January CANDLE Institute hosted the official delegation together with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Armenia H.E. Mr. Vincenzo Del Monaco and the Chairman of Science Committee of RA Prof. Samvel Haroutiunian.
A short overview on the establishment history of the Institute was given and the guests were suggested to have an excursion to the AREAL complex and DELTA Laboratory. A brief presentation on recent achievements of the research conducted on DNA damage/repair was given by the scientific group from the Institute of Molecular Biology NAS RA. The visitors were introduced the novel and up-to-date facilities of the Institute.
Within the official visit of the delegation, on the 26th of January a conference was organized at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. The participants were welcomed by the President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian, the president of NAS RA, academician R. Martirosyan and the President of National Research Council of Italy Prof. Massimo Inguscio.
Within the conference program, the director of CANDLE Institute Prof. V. Tsakanov gave a talk on “AREAL Highlights for Science and Advanced Technologies”. The potential of the international cooperation within the ADRENALIN project has been outlined. ADRENALIN (Accelerator Driven Research for European Neighborhood Advancement in Launching Interdisciplinary Network) is a proposal submitted by CANDLE for EU HORIZON 2020 TWINNING call, together with three EU partners: National Institute for Nuclear Physics INFN (Italy), Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY (Germany) and Laboratory of Free Electron Lasers for Infrared eXperiments FELIX (Netherlands).
