His contribution to world science is enormous. On November 28, 2016, after 5 months of public deliberations, the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) approved the names of the new four elements on Mendeleev’s periodic table: 113 – Nihonium (Nh), 115 – Moscovium (Mc), 117 – Tennessine (Ts) and 118 – Oganesson (Og) in honor of Armenian professor Yuri Oganessian. His innovative approaches to research have been crucial in the field of nuclear physics, especially in the discovery of super-heavy elements. The CANDLE team cordially congratulates the professor on his birthday and wishes him new scientific achievements.
