The installation and parameter test of High Energy Ultra-fast UV Laser developed by AMPLITUDE SYSTEMES (France) for the AREAL project is successfully completed. Laser light at 258 nm wavelength will illuminate RF gun photocathode in order to produce sub-picosecond duration electron bunches with small emittance in single and multi-bunch operation modes. The generation of ultra-short electron bunches with extremely low beam emittance opens the highlights for the experimental study of new acceleration concepts, new sources of coherent radiation and ultrafast processes at atomic and molecular level.
