Day of Light at CANDLE SRI

As part of UNESCO’s International Day of Light initiative, the CANDLE SRI will host an Open Day on June 9, 2026, dedicated to the memory of the distinguished philanthropist, founder, and first president of the institute, Jirair Hovnanian. The event offers a unique opportunity for everyone interested in science to discover cutting-edge research and learn about the work carried out in the institute’s laboratories. Visitors will have the chance to explore innovative facilities, participate in scientific demonstrations, and experience the fascinating world of science in an engaging and accessible way. The Open Day will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the CANDLE SRI (31 Acharyan Street, Yerevan, Armenia). As part of the event, a photo-story competition entitled “Science and Light: Applications” will also be organized for school students aged 12–17. Participants are invited to create a visual story of up to 10 photographs illustrating the applications of science and light in everyday life. Entries should be sent to info@asls.candle.am, including the participant’s full name, school, and age, with “Day of Light 2026” indicated in the subject line. The competition results will be announced during the event on June 9. Prizes will be awarded to the top three participants, and a special prize will also be presented to the school with the most active participation.
