International Day of Light 2021

CANDLE team is happy to announce that the annual event “Illumination of the Unknown” within the celebration of the International Day of Light initiative will be held on June 09 and will be devoted to the memory of the founder and first president of CANDLE, a great philanthropist Mr. Jirair Hovnanian (June 9, 1927 – August 14, 2007).

We are happy that this year the event will be celebrated offline with a number of guests, keeping the pandemic rules (social distance, masks, etc.).

A number of short informative and educational videos on light application will be demonstrated, in-place experiments will be organized and the event will be finalized with a tour to AREAL accelerator complex.

The International Day of Light 2021 is a UNESCO global initiative in the framework of which CANDLE is the national node from Armenia. The International Day of Light raises global awareness of the importance of light science and technology in areas such as communications, sustainable development, climate action and healthcare.

The message of this year’s International Day of Light — Trust Science — encourages both scientists and the public alike to sign and support a declaration affirming their trust in science and the importance of public confidence in the scientific process.

The Institute laboratories and experimental facilities will be open from 11:00 am to 14:00 pm for a large audience of pupils, students, researchers and general public. All interested people are kindly invited to take part in this international initiation and be introduced the history and future perspectives of CANDLE.
